Day 71 - 21st May - Creating Another Presentational Element

Today i began to work on my opposite hand for how i think i will present my work on the deadline, i began again as i did with the previos one by first creating a basic structure out of the thicker less maleable wire as a base to build upon and develop.

This was followed by winding up wire to create the fingers and filling in some of the surface area to strengthen my forms, before i began the process of knitting the two pieces together using the thicker wire as a way to anchor my connections and ensure a strong and reliable hold.

From here i continued to fill in the surface area but also then added it and fixed it to the base that would be attatched to the wall. However like before it felt extremely top heavy so  as a way to counteract this i created a series of small arching supports that i thoroughly attatched to the frame work of the hand and also fixed to the base as to create a stronger connection and hold.

With a side by side comparison i feel that the mod rock is more impactful and holds a surface that i feel would better suit the purpose that i have for it, so with this second hand i think i shall mod rock it again but this time leave some areas uncovered and build up more on others to show a greater contrast and make use of the wire work beneath it.
My aim for tomorrow is to get the piece mod rocked and the final draft printed and ready to work with.
