Today i began by mod-rocking my previous wire structure with the aim to completely cover the surface as to create a warped and ridged texture to reflect the stone/rock inspiration. Having the aim to potentially add colour to the surface once fully dried after the weekend.
Following this i attempted to create a smaller scale hand from wire but it was a difficult task due to the way in which the wire was hard to form into such a small and intricate shape without the use of the thicker wire as i wouldn't be able to warp it as i would like.
After i had created this i began to create a mod rock cast of my arm as to see how it worked without the wire structure. An initial issue was that i wouldn't be able to mod rock my fingers separately as a result they were done together and appear vastly less defined and effective than my previous piece.
I began by this cling filming my arm as to allow for this cast to be removed easily and without it catching on my skin. To do this i had to ask another student for assistance to help me put on the cling film and to cut more mod rock to use mid way through the process.
The overall result was far weaker than my prior experiment as the hand ended up looking like a mitten with the thumb appearing stump-like and i don't think that this would be a viable option for my work, so as a result i decided that it was a better route if i carried on working in the methods that i had used prior.
