During todays work I had a focus on the work of Hayden Sherman beginning with a few pages studying his style from his pieces in differing media, timescales and techniques. Showing consideration to how the artist created the lines and the energy contained within it.
For this artists distressed style a fine point with a considerable amount of energy within it, so the media of choice here was either fine liner or biro as the point remained consistent but i could attain a range of tone through the pressure i used within my motion. Then i began to take more time to apply this style of sketching to my photography, however after my first few sketches i felt that adding in some tone for a base was necessary to which i felt enhanced the mark making nature of this style.
When i converted to a larger scale i felt that the multi tonal mixed media technique did not work as well as the marks feel lost in the composition and the varying thicknesses don't appear so vividly, therefore moving forward into my own work i should test styles that work on different scales to ensure that they are fit for purpose potentially within my outcome.
